For more than ten years, SAIC, a company based in El Paso, has been showing up in a meaningful way during the Christmas season. Through a long-standing partnership with Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care, SAIC employees request families to sponsor and respond with generosity, time, and care.
Each year, Ysleta Lutheran Mission identifies families connected to its ministry who could use extra support. SAIC employees then step in to provide Christmas gifts for both children and parents. Practical items mix with toys, and every family also receives a generous box of nonperishable food. What begins as a simple request becomes a shared effort, with coworkers shopping, wrapping, and preparing gifts meant to bless families they may never meet, yet hold close in heart.
This past Christmas, two families connected to YLM’s Mexico ministry partners received those gifts. One family worships at Cristo Rey Lutheran Church in Ciudad Juárez. The other is part of the San Esteban Mission in Chihuahua.
Both families opened boxes filled with care during a season often marked by uncertainty. For two children, a brother and sister, the surprise included bicycles with training wheels. Their joy was clear in the photos shared by the families, capturing excitement and pride as they climbed onto their new bikes.
Moments like these show how God works through people willing to give. SAIC employees offered more than presents. They shared kindness, encouragement, and a reminder families are seen and valued. Through simple acts like shopping for food or wrapping gifts, the love of Christ crossed borders and entered homes.
Ysleta Lutheran Mission remains grateful for partners who continue walking alongside this ministry year after year. SAIC’s commitment reflects the strength of long-term partnership and shared purpose. When people return again and again, trust grows and impact stretches farther. We continue thanking God for bringing people like the employees of SAIC, who give freely to serve families in need.
Thank you, SAIC, for your faithful partnership, for showing care through action, and for being part of the work God carries forward through Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care.
