On November 15, the Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care (YLM) Food Pantry Drive-Thru became a place of gratitude and community as members of all ages from San Pablo Lutheran Church came together to distribute 200 turkeys, which they donated to bless the families served through YLM each week.
The turkeys were purchased the night before, and early in the morning San Pablo volunteers arrived wearing their church t-shirts, ready to serve with smiles and enthusiasm. The youngest helper, only eight years old, stood among the older volunteers, eager to take part in blessing neighbors who rely on YLM’s weekly food support.
Throughout the morning, 150 families received turkeys, along with additional food items donated to YLM by the local food bank. Elderly members from San Pablo also received food packages with their turkey on Sunday morning, all of them expressing gratitude for the support during this holiday season.
The generosity of the San Pablo congregation made this distribution a blessed one, ensuring many households could bring home a meaningful meal.
Once again, this event highlighted the crucial role the YLM Food Pantry Drive-Thru plays in the Lower Valley community. Many who come each week live on government assistance, Social Security funds, or minimum-wage income. Rising costs of groceries and essential goods leave families facing difficult choices. YLM’s consistent, dependable food distribution helps close the gap and provide stability for households facing economic strain.
Through donations, volunteer efforts, and partnerships with churches like San Pablo Lutheran, YLM continues serving families with food, encouragement, and hope each Saturday.
