Build Up in Love

As the Church, we are called to grow –not only in number, but in unity, faith, and love. In Ephesians 4:11–16, we are reminded God equips His people to build up the Body of Christ, so it may be strengthened, grown, and firmly rooted in Him.

At Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care (YLM), we are witnessing this calling come to life across the border in Ciudad Juárez and Chihuahua.

For decades, Lutheran ministry has taken root across the border. What began in the 1950s has grown into a network of congregations and mission sites –where the Gospel is preached, families gather, and faith is formed.

Today, a new chapter is unfolding.

YLM and the Sinodo Luterano de Mexico (SLM) have renewed their partnership with a shared vision: to strengthen local churches, raise up pastoral and church leadership, and build a foundation for long-term sustainability and growth.

At the center of this effort are pastoral calls.

Local congregations are preparing to call pastors who will shepherd their communities, preach the Word, administer the Sacraments, and guide the Church forward. The SLM provides ecclesiastical oversight, ensuring faithful leadership. YLM walks alongside as a mission partner, offering support, resources, encouragement, and love.

Together, this partnership creates something lasting; churches rooted in their communities, led by local leadership, and prepared to grow.

Through the Build Up in Love campaign, we are supporting:

  • 3 pastors being called into ministry
  • 3 congregations being shepherded
  • 2 mission sites reaching new communities

The full vision requires $90,000 to sustain this work for one year. By God’s provision, $45,000 has already been given. Now, we trust Him and invite you to provide the remaining $45,000 by October 31.

This is more than financial support. It is an investment in God’s people –church leaders being formed, communities being strengthened, and the Gospel taking deeper root.

This is not short-term support.

It is a step toward churches becoming self-sustaining, developing leaders from within, and planting new congregations in the years ahead.

This is how the body of Christ is built up –in love, in unity, and in shared mission.

At YLM, we believe acts of kindness change lives.

That’s why part of our mission includes coming alongside families facing physical and spiritual needs –both in El Paso and in communities across the border in Mexico. By partnering with local organizations, cross-border churches, and ministries, we can bring God’s tangible love, mercy, and grace through Word and Deed.
