Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care (YLM) relies on volunteers to successfully accomplish its mission through its ministries, particularly its Mercy Distribution ministries, such as the Emergency Food Distribution, which serves over 180 families on Saturday mornings. Members of Ascension Lutheran Church are among the dedicated volunteers who arrive at 6am to assemble food boxes, a crucial task for a smooth distribution process. Their commitment, along with that of long-term volunteers from San Pablo Lutheran Church, facilitates the efficient organization of the Food Warehouse, ensuring distribution is completed by 9am.
YLM’s Food Pantry Drive-Thru on Saturday mornings requires ongoing volunteer support. Churches such as Ascension Lutheran, Zion Lutheran, and Crosspoint Church have committed to send members to serve monthly or quarterly. Other volunteers, such as soldiers from Ft. Bliss and the Zaragoza Rotary Club, bring their families to contribute to the effort.
High school students seeking community service hours are encouraged to volunteer with YLM, where they can help Saturday mornings or assist with various activities throughout the week, such as lawn care, office assistance, and warehouse organization. The non-profit organization welcomes these students, along with families, individuals, and churches to contribute to the service of others.
Volunteers have expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to serve the community alongside others. YLM emphasizes the importance of loving and serving God and others through these various ministries. You are invited to contact YLM at (915) 858-2588 to ask about volunteer opportunities and contribute to their mission of “changing lives every day through simple acts of kindness.”
