To listen to these men and women from all different places -Columbia, Venezuela, El Salvador, Russia, Haiti, Guatemala -sing with one voice is a spiritually uplifting experience.
Dios esta aqui. God is here.
The Gospel’s purpose becomes so much clearer, so much richer, when you stand in the mess hall of the El Paso Immigration Detention Center with hundreds of men and women who have left their country, families, and what is familiar in search for a better future, yet they are detained, waiting to see what their future holds.
Vine a adorar a Dios. I have come to worship God.
You see how God indeed gives freedom to the captives as they pray out loud, read Scripture, and encourage one another to look towards Christ, who never leaves them nor forsakes them.
I wish we had pictures to show you, for you to see the smiles, the tears, hands lifted in praise, and men on their knees in prayer. But this is one ministry of Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care (YLM) we can only share in words. New ICE restrictions do not allow for photos to be taken of detainees.
We believe in bringing the Gospel into the El Paso Immigration Detention Center, where we are encouraging men and women living in uncertainty, and we are preparing Gospel-carriers wherever they may go in the future.
Bibles in multiple languages are distributed, something your support makes possible. At this time, we are in desperate need of large-print Spanish Bibles. Become an enabler of the Gospel to those who cannot go -not at this time.
But we can go to them. We, believers in Christ and children of God, can bring the Good News to these men and women behind fences and walls. Let us together continue to share what God has done for every man, woman, and child in Jesus Christ.
