Water is poured into the baptism fount as those who will be baptized are called forward
What a joyful first Friday of March as seven people were marked as children of God through baptism!
La Santa Biblia, a mission-church partnering with Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care (YLM) is in a unique phase –without any buildings, ministry continues at La Santa Biblia as children and adults living in the Anapra, Juarez community are baptized and instructed through weekly catechism classes.
It was a blessing to witness as, through the means of water and the Word (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), little children and adults came into the family of God on that windy yet sunny day.
Members of La Santa Biblia worked together to decorate the side of the storage container
“It was a beautiful thing to see,” Rosy Lira, deaconess of La Santa Biblia, shared afterwards during fellowship and a celebration meal that took place afterwards, “Everyone worked together to set up the altar and the baptism fount, to make it pretty and special for those getting baptized. We may not have a sanctuary, but we have means to turn the side of the storage container where we meet into a pretty background, with the bright blue sky stretched out overhead.”
In less than a month, another ten baptisms will take place on the Saturday before Easter. “It’s a joy to see God working in Anapra,” Rev. Stephen Heimer, pastor at Zion Lutheran Church El Paso, shared in regards to his church’s partnering support of La Santa Biblia, “We work alongside this mission-church, and YLM, to spread the love of God through acts of kindness, the Word of God, and the fellowship of believers.”
As La Santa Biblia continues to grow and reach out to its community with God’s love and mercy, all who are part of YLM continue to support the efforts of this humble church through prayer, encouragement, and acts of kindness.
God’s victory unfolds right before everyone’s eyes with every baptism, and its certainly a reason for all to rejoice!
