Mother’s Day weekend was filled with smiles, laughter, and heartfelt appreciation at three of the mission-churches partnering with Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care (YLM) as these congregations came together to honor and celebrate mothers in various ways, along with the warmth of community and the love of Christ.

On Friday, Iglesia Luterana La Santa Biblia hosted a small, joy-filled celebration for the mothers of their congregation. A table with cake and balloon decorations created a festive atmosphere as the congregation gathered together.  a personal touch.

Saturday morning began with a beautiful surprise at YLM’s weekly Food Pantry Drive-Thru. Thanks to a generous donation from El Pasoans Fighting Hungers, several pallets of fresh roses and mixed bouquets were donated to YLM. As volunteers handed out boxes of groceries, they also gave every mother a bouquet of flowers—sparking countless smiles, and even a few tears. One mother, receiving a bouquet through her car window, pressed the flowers to her chest and whispered, “Thank you. I haven’t received flowers in years.”

At San Pablo Lutheran Church, Mother’s Day Sunday was especially meaningful. Each mother who walked through the doors was greeted with a corsage, and after the service, they received bouquets of roses and a small succulent plant on behalf of the leadership of San Pablo.

 This meaningful celebration wasn’t limited to members—every mother in attendance was honored. As part of the children’s message, the children were guided through a prayer of thanksgiving for their mothers, as well as each receiving a single yellow rose to give to their mothers. The sanctuary was filled with emotion and gratitude.

Santisima Trinidad, another mission partner situated in west Cd. Juarez, held a joyful reception after their service. Cupcakes, music, and heartfelt fellowship made the time extra special. Mothers gathered in small groups, laughing and catching up as gift baskets and even a television donated for this day were raffled off. “It’s a blessing to be part of a church family that remembers and celebrates us,” one mother shared.

These celebrations, made possible through YLM’s partnerships and supporters, reminded everyone that love in action—whether through flowers, cake, or simple words of thanks—makes a lasting impact.
