The spirit of giving was alive and well at La Santa Biblia the last Friday of January, where children of their congregation and community gathered to hear of God’s love for them, along with receiving jackets, toys, and backpacks. Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care (YLM) continues to help Mexico mission-churches such as La Santa Biblia in their efforts to share the Good News to those around them, as well as provide mercy care for their needs. Through a new partnership with Paso Del Norte Foundation, over 100 jackets in various children’s sizes, were distributed, along with toys donated to YLM by individuals, congregations, and Lutheran Women Missionary League (LWML) groups.
The kindness didn’t stop there. Donations of candy made it possible for each child to receive a treat bag, their smiles full of delight as the deaconesses of La Santa Biblia led them through worship songs, sharing the love of Christ for them.
Earlier in the week, 80 Christmas Gift Boxes donated through Orphan Grain Train, were distributed to children up to age 13 in several of the colonias of Cd. Juarez. These special gift boxes included hygiene items, underwear, socks and toys, were distributed along with 22 jackets given by Iglesia Luterana Santisima Trinidad to help keep little ones warm through this cold season.
For many families in these communities, resources are scarce, and something as simple as a new jacket or a toy makes a world of difference. These gifts are more than just items—they are evidence of love, care, and hope, serving as a reminder that even after the holidays have passed, the spirit of Christmas continues to shine through acts of kindness because Jesus Christ is alive and with His children every day.
Through these efforts, the joy of the season lingers a little longer in these areas of great need, warming both hearts and homes as people experience the love of God. The generosity of organizations and donors has ensured these children feel cared for and experience the happiness of receiving a gift meant for them.
YLM accepts year-round donations for the annual Joy Distributions, which take place in the winter months of December and January. You can give today to bring joy to children this coming Christmas!
