At Iglesia Luterana Santisima Trinidad in Cd. Juarez, a partnering mission-church of Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care (YLM), excitement and the sound of children’s laughter as the church embarked on a week-long Vacation Bible School (VBS) was a joy to behold. This yearly event brought together the congregation for the purpose of sharing God’s Word with the youngest members of their community.
From the moment the doors opened each morning, 35 children were greeted with warm smiles and open arms, 8 of them first-time participants. Volunteers, adult and youth, worked tirelessly to create an environment where each child could feel the love of Christ.
Through engaging stories, uplifting music, interactive games, and creative crafts, the children were immersed in the teachings of the Bible in ways that were both fun and meaningful.
Ten of the church’s women played a pivotal role in ensuring no child went hungry. Each day, they lovingly prepared and served lunch, turning the meal into a time of fellowship and nourishment, reflecting the heart of the church’s mission to serve and support one another.
A unique and touching aspect of Santisima Trinidad’s VBS is the involvement of scholarship recipients. These young leaders took on significant roles, organizing and leading various activities. Their presence was not only an inspiration to the children but also a testament to the impact of the church’s commitment to education and mentorship. Watching these scholars give back to their community was a reminder of the ripple effect of kindness and support.
As the week ended, each child was given a backpack filled with school supplies, a tangible expression of the church’s ongoing support and love. After the backpacks were received, the volunteers gathered around the children and prayed for blessings upon the upcoming school year.
This moment of prayer was profound, encapsulating the essence of what VBS at Iglesia Luterana Santisima Trinidad is all about – a community bound by faith, love, and a shared mission to nurture the next generation. It was a week of joy, learning, and spiritual growth, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who participated.
