Ramon, his wife, and their two children were baptized alongside Cristina, Ramon’s mother
There is always cause for celebration when children and adults are brought into the family of Christ through baptism. At Iglesia Luterana La Santa Biblia, located in Anapra, baptisms happen quite often. In March, six of them took place on Wednesday mornings, with five of them happening on the same day as a mission team from Ham Lake, MN witnessed the miracle of new births in faith.
“We are blessed with the help we receive from Ysleta Lutheran Mission Human Care (YLMHC) and Zion Lutheran Church in El Paso,” Yessika, one of the deaconesses currently assisting at one of the two Anapra mission-churches, shared afterwards, “The partnership we have with them is giving us the support and encouragement to grow together as a church, to reach out to the community around us, and show the love of Christ in very simple ways.”
The small family became part of a bigger family through baptism on a beautiful Wednesday morning
La Santa Biblia has grown in the past two years, from a congregation of 20 small families to close to 80 families. Through the help offered to these families in need, such as the distributions of food, school backpacks, blankets, jackets and toys for children, there have been many who have approached the leaders of the church with the desire to baptize and learn more about their newfound faith.
Christina, a woman who has been coming to La Santa Biblia for several years, came forward with her son and his family, to be baptized. The beautiful Wednesday morning was the backdrop to the miracle that took place within each of them. Afterwards, the children and adults learned about God’s love for them through activities planned and led by the mission team serving at Anapra that week.
It’s truly a joy for the family of Christ to witness the entrance of new family, young and old, through the water and the Word!
