For the sixth summer, Peace with Christ Lutheran Church from Aurora, Colorado has brought a large group of students to YLM to serve their brothers and sisters in Christ on the border. Each year they are tasked with building at least 2 houses, and some trips they have done more, both in El Paso, and in Sparks as well. For the past few summers, the team has worked in Anapra, and this year they were able to build for 2 families at the San Pedro and San Pablo mission in south Juarez. Even though the location was new for them, they quickly attacked the projects, ensuring they would be able to hand over two completed homes to their families at the end of the week.
Although the primary goal of the trip is to build the homes, the team also spends time growing in their faith and their relationships with each other. Devotions, personal time, and small group breakouts help keep the focus on the reason they all serve and encourage them to share and grow in their relationships with everyone they encounter. After a successful week in the mission field of Juarez, the students and leaders return home to continue their mission work in their own backyard. We look forward to seeing the team again next summer and see how they continue to grow in their faith and mission.
