Ministry at Iglesia Luterana Gloria Dei (“Glory to God”), near downtown Chihuahua City–a 5 hour drive south of El Paso–was started in 1987. A member of the Mexican Lutheran Synod, the ministry continues to thrive under the leadership of Pastor Martin Tovar and his wife Blanca, aided by their son Misael and his wife Erika. It is the ministry hub for outreaches in the communities of San Lorenzo, Sicachique, and Janos. The Tovars live next door to the church in the spacious parsonage with lots of spare bedrooms. A multi-purpose room, kitchen, and additional bunkrooms are located beneath the sanctuary, equalling ample space for servant event lodging. Ann Arbor based outfit MOST Ministries sends regular eyeglass clinic teams to Gloria Dei; dental care has been identified as a future need.
Opportunities for adoration and education:
- Worship service, Sundays at 10:00 am
- Home visits/Bible studies, Wednesdays at 7:00 pm
- Youth Bible study, Saturdays at 2:00 pm
