Local Volunteers
If you live in the El Paso/Juarez area, there are many ways you can volunteer each week. Please contact our program manager, Elvira Viramontes, at (915)858-2588 to see what current opportunities exist. Common tasks include sorting in the warehouses for upcoming food, school supply or other distributions, sorting in the thrift store, assisting in the office, cleaning, performing yard work and more.
Short Term Volunteers From Afar
YLM has been blessed over the years by volunteers who grace our ministry for a few months at a time. We welcome individuals, couples, or families who wish to travel to YLM to serve at any time of the year, although historically summer and winter are the most popular times. Several “snowbird” couples winter in sunny El Paso, frequently taking advantage of our 4 RV pads, and we anticipate their return every January. Perhaps God is leading you to do the same. YLM also provides volunteer internships for college-aged men and women during the hectic months of June, July, and August. They help facilitate servant event groups in their arrivals, orientation, community life, service projects, and departures. Follow the links to download a job description and application. The application process for short-term volunteers whose duties will involve interaction with children/youth or entry into detention center facilities will include a mandatory background check. Applications are due by the end of January and will be reviewed in early spring.
